What is a habit?  A habit is desire objectified—“the continuous character of one’s thoughts and feelings”—desire for something that will give satisfaction.  At the root of all habit is one basic thing: the desire to express life. –Ernest Holmes

I can get temporary satisfaction when I finish a project, but I get real satisfaction when I know the truth and I bless everyone and everything.

This Original Life is Infinite.  It is good.  It is filled with peace.  It is of essence of purity.  It is the ultimate of intelligence.  It is power.  It is Law.  It is Life.  It is in us.  In that inner sanctuary of our own nature, hidden perhaps from objective gaze, “nestles the seed, perfection.” –Ernest Holmes

The peace and silence of my heart is my sanctuary.

When by reason of enlightenment and understanding, we correct such mistakes; we no longer suffer from them.  Understanding alone constitutes true salvation, either here or hereafter.
--Ernest Holmes

Salvation is giving up on having anything wrong with you.

The first requisite for the mental and spiritual practitioner is a full sense of the sacredness of his trust…--Ernest Holmes

Perhaps a flower expresses sacredness because of its delicate deliciousness just for its own sake.

No man need prepare to meet his God; he is meeting Him every day and each hour in the day.  He meets Him in the rising sun, in the flowing stream in the budding rose, in the joy of friendship and love, and in the silence of his own soul.  –Ernest Holmes

A rose is one of the loveliest of flowers.  It is beautiful and it smells great!  I am not sure what its purpose is, except to just be.

When one realizes that everything is Mind and that nothing moves but Mind, and that the only instrument of Mind is thought (which is contemplation in some form or other) he will see that nothing can permanently heal unless it be accompanied by right thinking.  --Ernest Holmes

Practicing right thinking is when you communicate and you appreciate and you follow right thinking with right action.

Abounding, especially in natural resources: rich land.

I am rich in every way possible.  If I am feeling some lack or limitation, I can mentally turn this around by affirming my good, my richness and my abundance.

Thursday, July 18, 2013

Life lies open to me—rich, full, abundant…I have only to open the portals of my soul and accept that which is ready to express through me.  Today I fling these portals wide; today I am the instrument through which life flows.  –Ernest Holmes

I am rich beyond all measure when I follow my dream and when I know that the journey is the gift.

Hold steadfastly to the thought that all of life is in a state of eternal flow.  Relax your thought and allow the free flow of the Life Essence, in and through you, and your body will respond to Its healing activity.  Inaction will quickly disappear into its native nothingness, in the rhythm and harmony of all your bodily functions.  –Ernest Holmes

There is a rhythm to life and I am not in charge of it.  It’s in charge, and I ‘m going with the flow!

The person who can throw himself with a complete abandon into that Limitless Sea of Receptivity, having cut loose from all apparent moorings, is the one who will always receive the greatest reward.  –Ernest Holmes

The reward for everything I do is in the present moment.  It is in the doing and in the peace I feel in pushing through the fear and allowing my worthiness.

…Divine Ideas are perfect, but man’s freedom of individuality causes them to appear imperfect.  Through right thinking, he is able to uncover the appearance of imperfection and reveal the Perfect Idea.  –Ernest Holmes

As an artist, I reveal my truth in the form of my art quilts.  I reveal and I express with color and fabric.

Nature seems to await our comprehension of her and, since she is governed by immutable laws—the ignorance of which excuses no man from their effects—the bondage of humanity must be a result of our ignorance of the true nature of Reality.  –Ernest Holmes

To get a good result I must steer clear of distractions and keep moving in the direction of my desire.

In healing the blind men, Jesus asked them if they believed that he was able to restore their vision, and upon their acceptance of his ability to do so, he said, “According to your faith be it unto you.”  --Ernest Holmes

I restore my focus and my energy by practicing deep breathing and good posture.

Rest permeates my mind and body with its healing presence.  I do not try to make anything happen, I accept restful sleep. –Ernest Holmes

I take little breaks from work and get some rest, and then my work is much more efficient and effective.

…if our thought is creative and if we have selectivity—that is, volition and choice—and if we are unfolding to a discovery of our true nature, which must already be perfect, then the obligation and responsibility of this nature could impose freedom or bondage upon us temporarily, but our bondage cannot be real from the standpoint of the Absolute.

I choose my own response to life.  If I find myself responding with a negative judgment about someone, then I can change my thinking into something positive.  I can take responsibility for my own thinking.

…Infinite Intelligence responds to us by the very necessity of being true to Its own Nature.
--Ernest Holmes

It’s not what happens, but how I respond to what happens that makes my Life worthwhile or not.

The Universe is impersonal.  It gives alike to all.  It is no respecter of persons.  It values each alike. –Ernest Holmes

I am a definite respecter of the idea that all things are possible with Spirit.

Transitive verb
To feel or show honor or esteem for, hold in high regard

I stay grounded in the way it is, and the way I am.  I do what is right for me.  I really listen to my heart while making my decisions.  I allow others to do the same.  I respect myself and I respect all.

Take the mentality away from a body and it becomes a corpse.  Having no conscious intelligence, it at once begins to disintegrate and to resolve into the Universal Substance or unformed matter, from which it came.—Ernest Holmes

I can resolve anything, any problem with love and forgiveness.

Perfect trust in God within is the secret of relaxation, rest and renewal.  ---Ernest Holmes

It’s a great thing to take a vacation and go to the mountains or to the beach.  When you come home again you can experience a sense of renewal.

If the visible effect in our lives is not what it should be, if we are unhappy, sick and poverty stricken, we know the remedy.  The Truth is always the remedy, and the Truth is that the law of liberty is the only real law.  When we reverse the process of thought the effect will be reversed.
--Ernest Holmes

There is always a remedy for anything that can seemingly go wrong, and that remedy is to love and bless each and every person or situation, knowing that all is well and unfolding perfectly at all times.

One should never allow himself to think of, or talk about, limitation or poverty.  Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.  The more spiritual the thought, the higher its manifestation.  Spiritual thought means an absolute belief in and reliance upon, Truth.  This is both natural and normal.—Ernest Holmes

Obviously, I can’t do everything for myself and by myself; we are all here together and we help one another.  But I like the feeling of Self-Reliance when I have a moment when I know that I completely and unconditionally Love Myself with or without the approval of others.

…when a psychic exercises the spirit prophecy, because he is getting his own subjective contact with the condition and simply interpreting what comes to him; but this is the logical, deductive, conclusive power of his subjective thought—seeing a thing completed by first seeing a tendency to set in motion and computing the time it will take to complete it. There are but few, however, who possess any reliable spirit of prophecy.  –Ernest Holmes

If I say I will do something, then I will do it.  I also am free to say “no, I will not do this.”  If I say I will do something and then the situation changes or I realize that the thing does not serve me then I bow out.  I allow myself to change my mind.  I am reliable to myself first and then to others.

It is necessary that we release all thoughts—as well as things—that clutter up our lives.  We are reminded that there is something resembling the divine in the intelligence and fearlessness of the organs of our body, in the way they take that which is necessary to their sustenance and well-being, and release that which is not needed. ---Ernest Holmes

I love the feeling of release when I finally let go of things that I thought were important.
