Humility or humbleness is a quality of being courteously respectful of others. It is the opposite of aggressiveness, arrogance, boastfulness and vanity. Rather than, “Me first,” humility allows us to say, “No, you first, my friend.” “Humility” is the quality that lets us go more than halfway to meet the needs and demands of others.

The power of Spirit is what keeps me alive. I am completely dependent on this Universal spirit. I am nothing without it, because It is everything! When I remember this I have humility.

Pure religion manifests itself through acts of kindness and mercy. It is not arrogant—claiming a front seat in heaven—but is humble before the great Whole. It unifies with all humanity and finds no great difference between saint and sinner. Such a religion as this, the world of today needs, for it is sick of pretense and would like a practical demonstration of a belief in God, made manifest through good works. –Ernest Holmes

The Universe is so vast and I am smaller than a speck. I am insignificant, and yet I am integral part of a Divine Plan. I humbly move forward to complete my small piece of a huge picture.

If it were not for the divine hope in us, our experience would be more than the human mind could digest. –Ernest Holmes

When I say, “There is Hope”, what I mean is that if a situation is challenging, I do not give up because I know that something better will happen. “There is Hope”!

Let us honor God more and man less. Let us seek within for the cause; it can be found in no other place. There is nothing that can keep us from this inner vision of the Eternal Reality.

–Ernest Holmes

I honor myself, my body, my feelings and my process of life. This helps me to also honor the lives of others on this planet and to make a contribution to the healing of our earth.

Showing fairness and sincerity; straightforward; free from deceit—an honest effort

The more open and honest I am, the more blessed and healed I become, because this way, I am not hiding anything. “What you see is what you get.” I am honest and I am well.

If we have the mental equivalent of a commodious home, roomy, light, cheery, and an income in keeping with it; if we are able to build in mind the kind of home we wish, and there is nothing in our subjective thought which denies this, then we shall be able to decide and demonstrate for ourself the kind of home we desire.—Ernest Holmes

Home is where the heart is. I feel most at home when I act with Love. When I really love myself and I feel secure in my self expression, this is my home.

We are told to be renewed in mind by the Spirit and to put on the new man, which is created in true holiness… The mind is the creative factor within us, and when the mind takes its pattern after the Spirit, it automatically renews the outer man after true holiness or wholeness.

–Ernest Holmes

All of Life is holy. All of Life is a blessing. Everything and Everyone is a blessing. As I express myself I express blessings. As I express myself, I express holiness.

If a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy him or her by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it. –Edgar Watson Howe

I am helpful in everything I do. I first help myself and then I am prepared to help others. This is helpfulness.

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Ultimately we shall see that the Universe rests on the shoulders of Love; that God is Love; and that all the errors of man are the result of ignorance of his own true nature. The happy outlook on life is always constructive; the understanding heart is filled with sympathy and helpfulness toward all.—Ernest Holmes

I can be helpful in everything I think, say and do. If I am thinking positive and encouraging thoughts about others, then I am being a helpful influence. If I am saying uplifting things in my conversations, then I am helpful in that way. When my actions make a difference, that is helpful.

Heaven is lost merely for the lack of a perception of harmony. Hell is the phantom abode of our morbid imaginations. Heaven and Hell are states of consciousness.—Ernest Holmes

Heaven is right now. I relax into the present moment and I see that all of the worries in my head, I just made up. I can let them go and realize heaven in the NOW.

Heart symbolizes the innermost center of the being. When the intellect is no longer contradicted by our emotional reactions, by unconscious doubts and fears, then the word of our mouth will immediately bear fruit.—Ernest Holmes

I allow my heart to guide me in everything I do. I consciously go within and listen to my heart. I am aware of the heart area of my chest and I focus on how it feels. If I am experiencing any negative thoughts of feelings about anyone, I visualize that person and I take them into my heart where Love dissolves the problem. The Love in my heart heals anything I choose to allow to enter in to be healed. My Heart Work heals me.

The arrogant have not perceived the simplicity of faith, but the pure in heart see God. The farmer has seen the Heavenly Host in his fields. The child has frolicked with Him at play. The mother has clasped Him to her breast and the fond lover has seen Him in the eyes of his beloved. We look too far away for Reality. –Ernest Holmes

My heart is full of love, because I allow it to open to all aspects of life. I breathe and I allow.

If one wishes to demonstrate prosperity, he must first have a consciousness of prosperity; if he wishes health, he must embody the idea of health. This is more than faith; it is the knowledge that we are dealing with Law. –Ernest Holmes

I have an attitude of Gratitude, I eat lots of fruits and veggies, I exercise every day, I get plenty of rest, I practice breathing, and I practice HEALTH!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Healing and demonstration take place as our minds become attuned to the truth of Being. There is no process of healing, but there is generally a process in healing. This process is the time and effort which we undergo in or realization of Truth. –Ernest Holmes

I accept the present Reality. I embrace every aspect of my life, including all of it, my body, my work, my family and friends; all of the problems and all of the solutions. I accept healing!

The original Spirit is Harmony. It is Beauty and Truth and everything that goes with Ultimate Reality. The Universe is not divided against Itself.

Harmony happens when we are all working together for the common good of all. So, I agree to always do my part to move towards completing my own piece of the greater whole so that we are all closer to having peace and harmony.

I do the right thing. I do what works for me. I play the role that is the Divine piece of the puzzle that is mine. In God’s symphony, I play my own instrument with the perfect notes that create harmony for all.

…health has always been ours, abundance has always been ours. Happiness and peace have always been ours; they are ours now, for they are the very essence and Truth of our being

.—Ernest Holmes

I choose happiness. I make up my mind to be happy. Whatever is happening with my family, work, health or the world at large, I choose to be happy and at peace. If I follow my guidance and I agree to be agreeable with Loving Kindness; that is what is most likely to give me happiness.

People often say, “I don’t know what to do; I don’t know how to make a choice.” We must realize, that there is an Intelligence within us that does know. This “guidance” is just as true. –Ernest Holmes

I accept my guidance right here and right now. In this present moment I listen. I go within, I become quiet and I tap into that still small voice. I feel my heart beating and filling with the energy of life. I listen to love and I use love as my tool which shows me the direction to follow. I allow love to be my guide.

…”When ye pray, believe that ye have and ye shall receive.” He did not say believe and you will immediately have. He said, “Ye shall receive.” He did not deny the natural law of evolution and growth. “Nature operates according to a law of logical sequence. –Ernest Holmes

I like the idea of “growing where you are planted.” I have a certain set of circumstances and I have projects I am working on and relationships I am in. These are all perfect just the way they are and each one has a purpose, or something for me to learn. I take a baby step at a time, and gradually, sometimes unnoticeably I progress and I grow into new situations, new relationships and new creative projects. When I practice seeing the good in all of it, I grow into more wonderful happenings.

“In everything give thanks.” An attitude of gratitude is most salutary, and bespeaks the realization that we are now in heaven. How we love to do for those who co-operate, and are grateful for our small endeavors! Gratitude is one of the chief graces of human existence and is crowned in heaven with a consciousness of unity.—Ernest Holmes

In cultivating an attitude of gratitude, I am becoming a person of grace. Each time I look for something to be grateful for, I increase my prosperity and abundance and I become more aware of how fortunate I am. Every time I am grateful for the people in my life, I increase the love in my heart. When I am grateful I feel good. I find things to appreciate that I had not noticed before. Looking at what I do have, rather than what I don’t have, I begin to see from my heart, rather than from my head. I embrace the people in my life. I embrace my own life. When I am grateful, I love myself the way I am!

This is a beautiful thought: that we are fed from the table of the Universe, Whose board is ever spread with blessedness and peace; Whose loving-kindness has never been fathomed; Whose grace and truth are the cornerstones of Reality.—Ernest Holmes

As I find ways to do good in the world, I am filled with more and more of the gift of grace.

There is a power in the Universe that honors our faith in It; there is a Law in the Universe which exacts the “uttermost farthing.” We all wish to feel that the power behind everything is good, as well as creative, an Eternal and changeless Intelligence, in which man lives and moves and has his being.—Ernest Holmes

I like to practice seeing the good in everything that happens, and especially in all people. Seeing the good in someone has a healing effect on me and the other person as well. Good is Good!

We are surrounded by a spirit of loving Intelligence, and eternal givingness, love, goodness and power that wishes to express Itself through us. There is a Divine Urge within ever pushing us forward to the goal.—Ernest Holmes

It’s good to set a goal and to do each step, one at a time until I have the job complete. This helps me feel good about myself. Having a goal and doing the work helps me to be grounded in Reality.

We give only what we have. The only shadow we cast is of ourselves; this shadow lengthens as we realize the great Presence in which we live, move and have our being.—Ernest Holmes

Life gives me glorious gifts every day and I am grateful. I am always looking for the less obvious occurrences; little things to be glad about. I practice thinking of small ways to give back to life.

Sunday, September 5, 2010

There is a place in us which lies open to the Infinite; but when the Spirit brings Its gift, by pouring Itself through us, It can give to us only what we take.—Ernest Holmes

Everything that happens in life is a gift. The truth is to open each one with patience and kindness.

My purpose is to move through all of the barriers that block the love that is in my heart and to really speak honestly and to be genuine in all of my relationships.

Gentleness can be viewed as a refinement of character, in difficult time, a thoughtful approach can serve as a model for others, when one thinks only of oneself, and not also of others, then it is easy to hurt others unintentionally.

Soft and sweet like a butterfly; that cannot help but be gentle. The touch of a feather on your shoulder in the quiet morning sun; this is gentleness. The precious holding of a child in your arms; this is gentleness.

(noun) the trait of being willing to give your money or time

Generosity happens when I tell the truth about who I am and what is going on right now rather than holding on to my perceived control over what I cannot control. It is when I stop controlling what I really can’t control anyway. It’s when I stop arguing and I forgive. It’s when I stop resisting and I allow life to flow through me. It is when I share my money and my art and everything I have with others—just sharing—that is generosity!

The Gardener goes forth in faith to sow his seeds. He has learned that as he sows, so shall he reap; that the law works for all alike. We must accustom ourselves to the concept of the impersonalness of the law, the availability of the law, and the mechanical accuracy of the law. If we can conceive only a little good, that is as much as we can experience.—Ernest Holmes

I am the gardener of my life. I till the soil by doing mental housekeeping and cleaning out the cobwebs of my mind. I choose carefully the seeds that I plant so that I can have the results that I want. I water my plants with plenty of gratitude and kindness. I let go and I allow my garden to grow. When the time comes, I harvest my crop. Then I begin again.
