DIVINE

The divine Plan is one of Freedom; bondage is not god-ordained. Freedom is the birthright of every living soul. –Ernest Holmes

To be creative is to be Divine. I accept my creativity and my Divinity as my source.

DIVERSITY

Multiculturalism, the ideology of including people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.

www.Wikipedia.org

I see a beautiful pattern with contrast, light and shadow; a complete variety of colors of the spectrum. There are shapes and sizes of shapes and different shapes and colors of shapes with shading. There are points of view—good and bad, puzzle parts making up a complete picture, patches of a quilt, parts of a body, musical notes, up and down, songs with many feelings, happy, sad, in between, cultures, languages, animals, plants, people, insects minerals, earth, air, fire, water, mountains, valleys, intelligence, personality characteristics, all taking shape, four seasons.

DISCOVERY

Man never creates; he discovers and uses. Through this method all sciences are evolved. We live in a Universe of Law, through which runs a spirit of self-knowing Intelligence. “All’s Love, yet all is Law,” mused Robert Browning.—Ernest Holmes

There are many things I do not know. I know this, so when I learn something new, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I have discovered something. If I set my intention to learn something new every day, then I give myself the gift of discovery every day! What a wonderful way to live.

DISCOVER

There can be no reason given as to why the Truth is true. We do not create laws and principles, but discover and make use of them. –Ernest Holmes

I am discovering new aspects of myself every day. I am seeing that I am always moving forward with new ideas. I see that “This is It” over and over again. I see that there are lots of new ideas and that there is always “the way it is right now”. I have a combination of stillness and movement.

DISCERNMENT

Through spiritual discernment, we see that we have within us a power which is greater than anything we shall ever contact; a power that can overcome every obstacle in our experience and set us safe, satisfied, and at peace, healed and prosperous in a new light and a new life. “If God be for us who can be against us?”—Ernest Holmes

As I focus on my work and what needs to be done by me, I act with discernment. I choose carefully and I stay on course.

DILIGENCE

Solomon is accredited with many words of wisdom, none of which are more appropriate just here than his admonition: “Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life”.

(4:23)—Ernest Holmes

I pay attention to what needs to happen for me to get the job done. On a daily basis, I stay focused on the projects I am working on with certain specific goals in mind. I work with diligence, steadily and one step at a time my creative work progresses in the direction it is going and is completed in the time allotted.

DETERMINATION

A steadfast determination to attain some purpose, the letting go of all that opposes it, a complete reliance upon the Law of good, and an unqualified trust in Spirit—this is true fasting and real prayer.

Success takes determination, creativity, faith and persistence.

DESTINY

Whatever we think, act, believe in, feel, visualize, vision, image read and talk about—in fact all processes which affect or impress us at all—are going into the subjective state of our thought, which is our individualized use of Universal Mind. Whatever goes into the subjective state of our thought tends to return again as some condition. So we and we alone control our destiny.

--Ernest Holmes

My destiny is Freedom, Love, total Abundance, Peace, Harmony, and Balance.

DESIRE

The word that we speak is the law of our lives, and nothing hinders its operation but ourselves. We may use this creative word for whatever purpose we desire, and this word becomes the law unto the thing for which it was spoken. –Ernest Holmes

I desire all good for myself and others. I release anything that no longer serves me. My only real desire is for wellness and healing at this moment.

DEMONSTRATE

How much can one demonstrate? Just what one can believe. How much can we see, how much can we accept, how much can we find in our consciousness that is no longer repudiated by our denials? Whatever that is, THAT MUCH WE CAN HAVE. Ernest Holmes

I demonstrate my art quilt techniques so that people can see how I do my work and if they are artists, then can be inspired to apply the ideas to what they do in their art.

DELIVER

Man will deliver himself from sickness and trouble in exact proportion to his discovery of himself and his true relationship to the whole. –Ernest Holmes

When I am working on a commission art quilt for someone and together we agree on a date of completion; and delivery, then I know what I need to do to deliver the completed beautiful work of art on time.

DECLARE

Anyone can heal who believes that he can and who will take the time to set that belief in motion through the Law. To daily see the perfect man, and to daily declare for his objective appearance, is correct mental practice and will heal. –Ernest Holmes

I declare my prosperity and abundance right here and right now. I am prosperous because I declare that I am prosperous.

DECISIVENESS

The all-powerful Mind of the Indwelling Christ in me dissolves and dissipates from my mind all belief in indecision, anxiety, depression and discouragement, for I dwell in the realm of peace.

--Ernest Holmes

In order to move on, I consider each item and I say, “yes” or I say, “no”. I let go of the items that are not essential and I focus on what is important. I am decisive and my business is efficient.

DECIDE

If we have the mental equivalent of a commodious home, roomy, light, cheery, and an income in keeping with it; if we are able to build in mind the kind of home we wish, and there is nothing in our subjective thought which denies this, then we shall be able to decide and demonstrate for ourself the kind of home we desire.

I decide to love myself and I decide to trust the Universe is taking care of my needs. I decide to let go of anything that no longer serves me and I decide to allow myself to receive love.

DAWN

The Christ triumphs over death and the grave breaking through the tomb of human limitation into the dawn of eternal expansion. –Ernest Holmes

Dawn is the beginning of the day. The sun is coming up and warming our part of the planet. When a new idea dawns on me, that idea is a beginning. Each moment of my life is a new beginning, a new dawn. In each moment, each dawn, I can release the old and begin again, fresh.

CREATIVITY

Behind the individual is the Universal, which has no limits. In this concept alone lies the possibility of eternal and endless expansion. Everyone is Universal on the subjective side of life, and individual only at the point of conscious perception. The riddle is solved, and we all use the creative power of the Universal Mind every time we use our own mind.

Something within me has ideas. Something within me finds solutions. Something within me answers a need. Something within me knows what to do next. I can also use my creativity destructively. Today, I choose to use the powerful tool of creativity in a positive, constructive way. Making artwork is a beautiful way to use it.

CREATIVE

Within us, then, there is a creative field, which we call the subjective mind; around us there is a creative field which we call Subjective. One is universal and the other is individual. But in reality, they are one. There is one mental Law in the Universe, and where we use it, it becomes our law because we have individualized it.—Ernest Holmes

I am creative by nature. The trick to being creative is to put the creativity to good use.

CREAGEOUS

God’s Creative Power of Mind is right here. We have as much of this power as we believe in and embody. –Ernest Holmes

I have the courage to express and share my creativity. I listen to my inner voice and I proceed to move forward, one moment at a time doing whatever Spirit moves me to do or say. I write down all of my ideas. I prioritize them and I express them one at a time in the precious present moment. I tap into my Spiritual Creativity and I spontaneously express the work that is mine to do. I am Creageous!

MY RECEPTION AT THE TRITON WAS A WONDERFUL CELEBRATION!

Many thanks to all who attended my reception on Friday! I really felt that I was connecting with people through my work and this was very validating. I enjoyed seeing people examining each piece and being delighted with what they saw. I know there is a publisher for my book, "Riding the Horse!" I'll keep you updated with further developments. The show at the Triton Museum runs through May 10, 2009. I hope you can go see it. For information go to: http://www.tritonmuseum.org/onviewp.htm

COURAGE

The attitude of facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, difficult, or painful, instead of withdrawing from it, quality of being fearless or brave; valor www.YourDictionary.com

Rather that resisting the difficult aspects of my life and rather than avoiding doing those things that I am afraid of, I can choose to have the courage to move forward and go for what I want. I do not let fear win! I accept the courage I already have within me and I go for the gold!

MY SHOW AT THE TRITON MUSEUM OF ART

Riding the Horse

http://www.tritonmuseum.org/onviewp.htm

The idea came to me for the book “Riding the Horse,” because I have fallen off of the horse so many times and have climbed back on to ride again. At times, I have thought that getting back on was not possible. A couple of years ago, I began looking at many of my sketch books from the 1990”s and started to color the line drawings with marker pens. The process evolved and I began to see some work that I was unaware of before. Then I created new drawings and colored those. During the past 3 years I have put meaning to the work by adding words and little meditations to each image. I have written a book of meditations—things to ponder and tips for having a better day. It is about putting pieces of a life together and giving it a new context. There are the pictures—images-- intuitive and spontaneous—maybe with no literal interpretation, in combination with quotations from Ernest Holmes, whose books I have studied extensively over the years to help myself learn to think more constructively. And then there are my own thoughts about the chosen word for the day. I chose almost 400 words for inspiration, and then looked in Holmes’ work to see how he would use it. Then I wrote my own version of each one. The intent is to offer this to anyone who might feel a little better after looking at the image and reading the lines. “Writing the Book” has helped me with “Riding the Horse.”

Since May of 2008, I have prepared sixty-eight of my drawings for making art quilts by printing them out onto fabric and then making them into the shape of horses’ hooves to symbolize the idea of taking one step at a time while riding your horse along the path of life. I have used materials that mean something to me, like fabric, acrylic paint, and embellishments that I have collected over the years (such as funky old earrings) as well as those from the craft store. I hope you enjoy my little affirmation of life!

COSMIC

We observe in creation an atomic intelligence, then a simple consciousness; after which comes a personal consciousness, then a Cosmic consciousness.—Ernest Holmes

The Universe is Cosmic. My Universal Consciousness is my Cosmic Consciousness. I can tap into this Infinite Intelligence at any time to receive the guidance I need. I listen to the Cosmic Spirit within me.

COOPERATION

Every day and every hour we are meeting the eternal realities of life, and in such degree as we cooperate with these eternal realities in love, in peace, in wisdom and in joy—believing and receiving—we are automatically blessed. Our prayer is answered before it is uttered.

—Ernest Holmes

I am self reliant and yet I am not alone. I am willing to work with others on a team. No big project or event can happen with just one person. My art quilts are created by me with the help of all of the teachers I have ever had; with the help of fabric manufacturers, as well as paint, beads, buttons, batting thread, sewing machines, studio, quilts, too, etc.—all created by teams of people. I cooperate by being a part of it all. When I market my work, I agree by cooperating with the way the market works and I price my art according to what the market will bear. I connect with people who can help me sell the work and with those who will buy it. I cooperate. J

CONTRIBUTION

Contribute: To give or supply in common with others; give to a common fund for a common purpose—American Heritage Dictionary

How do I make a contribution? I look around me to see what needs doing. I listen to my heart; I love my family and friends; I set my priorities; I check items off of my list; I help others when appropriate and I live in peace.

CONTENT

If one is not attracting good into his life, there is something wrong with his unconscious thinking.

…This inner thought content is the sole medium between the Absolute and the relative, between causes and conditions.—Ernest Holmes

What is important is content. It’s not so much the container, but what is in the container, the content that matters. I have all kinds of creative ideas for artwork; I could be very busy for a really long time! My ideas for art to do keep changing all the time, but what is really important? It’s what’s inside that counts. It’s the content; and this remains the same; it’s all for Love!

CONTEMPLATE

Plotinus, perhaps the greatest of the Neo-Platonic philosophers, in personifying Nature said: “I do not argue, I contemplate; and as I contemplate, I let fall the forms of my thought.” This is the manner in which Nature creates—It contemplates. As a result of Its contemplation, It lets fall the seed of Its thought into the Universal Subjective which, being Law, produces the object thought about.

I observe in my mind a beautiful pink rose. I look at it from every angle and I see all of the different shapes it takes as I turn it. I look at its petals and I notice lots of different shades of pink in the light and shadows. Its fragrance touches my heart, as I contemplate God’s Grace in a small aspect of Nature.
